HELLO FRIENDS!
because of the holiday and catching a really gross nasty cold from family, i do not have a comic for you this week. but i figured perhaps i could make it up with a propaganukka gift???

and what better kind of gift than something that reaaaaaaally expemlifies the perfect storm of late 80s early 90s tv/toy/videogame/justsayno than...

from what little i know about double dragon, it was meant to be sort of a continuation? alternate? side game...? of river city ransom. or maybe RCR was meant to be a side game for DD. either way, it involved sidescrolling and beating dudes up to rescue your girlfriend from some evil dude. i mix the two up with steady regularity, since i only really played RCR and it was the sillier of the two.

BUT absolutely none of that matters because the tv show has about as much in common with the game as the 90s remake of carnival of souls had with the original film. AND absolutely none of THAT matters, because when you want to shoehorn a moral about drugs into a 90s cartoon, BY JIMMINY YOU WILL DO IT

SO WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY.....

SPIRIT OF THE DRAGON. LEAD US TO THE ANTI DRUG PROPAGANDA WE WISH TO MOCK. )

and that's all there is to it! i hope y'all had fun. i'll have a comic for you this coming weekend, and hopefully a bunch of pokemon drawings too.

in the meantime, what'd we learn?
uh...
cars go boom, i guess?

YEAH THAT WORKS
G'NIGHT

well it's almost 10am est, and it's the day before the night before xmas and day 4 of propaganukka. that means three more days to go!

following my enormous rant about the space race on tumblr, i thought i'd take us on a little trip into the stellarsphere with propaganda too. this one is relatively new to my collection, but already near and dear to my heart.

i don't know much about Galaxy High School, but i do know it's the kind of show that had it aired on any of my local stations i would have been a compulsive viewer. i also know that this particular episode won several awards for its relevence/delivery/message/writing...? it IS one of the better propagandas, both in its semi-realistic depiction of a downward slide aaaand also in its quality of writing. there's also other reasons i like it. a few folks might be able to guess at those. but if you can guess, please don't share. i don't like to give out my real name onliOOOOOOPS

so strap in, and prepare for lift-off. we're in for some 90s animated scifi tweenaged goodness with The Brain Blaster.

being kidnapped by aliens to go to their space school...every nerd's wet dream )

so what did we learn from today's Propaganukka gift?
well, we learned that pressure (like failing school, or being told the entire championship rides on you, or racism) can lead to drug use. we also learned that real friends are willing to help you BEFORE they lecture you, that sometimes your friends might also have tried drugs, and that drugs will get you kicked out of a sports tournament.

wait what the!
DID WE ACTUALLY LEARN REAL FACTS AND MORALS ABOUT DRUG USE TODAY?
WHAT THE FUCK
well it was all wrapped up in a nice package with lightbulb aliens, singing wigs and surfer talk so i guess that's okay.

see you tomorrow, everybody! get ready for your next present!

i appear to have got things up and running with dreamwidth, but expect a few hiccups as i get used to the new interface. it uses different code for things like entry cuts, and whatnot. so stuff might be a little wonky for a few.

propaganda post is incoming. i just needed to get something out of my system first. and it usually takes me at least two hours to get the caps up so hang tight.

there's also talk of going to rhode island for xmas eve and day, which will throw a wrench into the gears of propaganukka. more on that as the situation develops.

also it's snowing!
GOD DAMNIT, I HATE SNOW!
