wake up in an alleyway covered in teenaged angst

...so we're back on contura, in the present. future. futurepresent LOOK I DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY WITH SCIFI D: we're no longer in a flashback. and this arc is just about finished, which means....huh i suppose late spring/early summer we'll be headed into the next arc :D yaaaay
in real world news things have been thankfully quiet. monday is alf's bday, but we'll probably celebrate today instead cause. y'know. work.
we finally got around to seeing the eva rebuild 3.33 and woaoaoaoaoa wow. i forgot how hard eva hits me right in the brainmeats, but it was really good. it's headed now in a completely different direction than the original, really kinda throwing the full throttle into the Dark Weird Scifi Shit engines and opening her up. i'm really looking forward to the next one in...four years :B but yeah REALLY GOOD STUFF. i've heard it got bad reviews which i don't really understand? it might be kaoru.
see there was this strong undercurrent of homophobia in eva back when it first came around. it's because shinji as a character really is Everyteen at his weakest, confronted with the worst nightmares you can come up with. while everyone loves to bash him and call him a wuss, the fact of the matter is that if it were you, you'd be shinji. and this includes his kind of ineffective fumbling with the ladies. it's identifiable, especially for a nerd. but then eva introduced kaoru, who highlighted that maybe gender doesn't matter, if what you really want is acceptance and love without having to do something awful for people in return. i think this freaked out a lot of Dumb People who suddenly felt a huge affront to their masculinity and insecure sexualities. a ton of OMG WTF NO IM NOT GAY types, y'know? and subsequently a whole ton of kaoru hate and kaoru bashing went on in the eva fandom for... a long time. maybe it's gone now, but i'm kinda thinking that's why it got bad reviews. people just can't handle the idea of shinji's healthiest relationship being with another dude. which is Lame, yo, kaoru and shinji's interactions are an amazing character arc and they did it like TEN TIMES BETTER this time around. plus the most fabulous piano duet in the world (complete with rainbows, galloping horses and double entandres)
ANYWAY it is a lot darker. people keep saying HOW CAN EVA BE DARKER but uh well it is i dunno what else to tell you. 3.33 feels like the empire strikes back of the rebuild - just everything is a downer, really no silly jokey things. everyone is serious and nothing doesn't hurt. IT'S GOOD. :D
apart from that in the real world, phil from sabrous found a postively rediculous RPG campaign. y'all know how fond i am of propaganda, so naturally he's going to actually run it and i'm going to play it. HELP, I'M TOO EXCITED FOR ROLLING DICE. SUPERNERDSSSS
i guess i should talk about inhuman stuff at some point in here, huh?
