what a month, huh
Jun. 25th, 2025 12:53 pm>>>>sticker/print club memberships!!! get one!!
i meant to have a nice pride entry for everyone at the start of this month, and instead this month got its claws out and decided to fight. so ... last two weeks have been pretty disrupted.
- luna (or tuxy cat)was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder at her yearly. shes 13 years old :(
+ it can be managed with medication, which she USUALLY takes without issue. this means she can enjoy treats like a morsel of croissant or plucked blades of cat grass still, which she lives for.
- ren has been in joint pain, which normally her monthly shot at the vet of solencia helps with. only this month it didnt seem to, and then we felt a lump. predictably, this was just a giant trigger in this household cuz of my own cancer journey.
+ we were quickly able to get her into the vet, and they drew a sample from the lump to examine under microscope for signs of cancer. they saw no such signs. we suspect that because the b-team did her arthritis shot in a weird spot (hip vs shoulder) her immune system has walled it off and isnt letting it work its magic. so we are dosing her with .25mg gabapetin for pain.
~ i'm not 100% on trusting just one test so after this heat wave breaks, i will take her to a second vet for the same testing. just to be sure. its the least i can do for her!! shes almost 17, 3kg (under 7lbs) and has been there for me through some of the worst human experiences that exist. i am not ready to say goodbye.
+ she seems mostly normal if slowed down, still wants to cuddle and purr and be around me. still eating and drinking and using the litterbox (tho she doesnt bury as often) and wanting to go out in the sun. so we are just managing her pain and trying to keep her from being too active.
( human/parental healthcare scare, toxic/narc parent )
- heatwave......................... car has no ac.......
~ tried to repair the sink cuz the drain was so old the crossguard rusted out, and cutlery had fallen into the u-bend and was clogging it. of course, getting the old drain out was not happening for us. it literally bent our steel tools.
- soooo i had to call roto rooter. why call them? theyre a corporation and ripped me off to the tune of 500$ for a 5$ part and 15 minutes of labor. so why? because in spite of this being a "blue state" the white supremacist agenda is extremely out in the open in massachusetts and extremely endemic in the handyman community. i have in the past had people quote me double the normal price for work after meeting me, or even worse, just ghost me entirely after meeting me. who am i to complain to in this situation? i was -talking- to the boss! at least with roto rooter i knew if they came in and were trash to me, i'd have some kind of recourse. but ............ i was doing dishes in our bathtub for a few days.
+ my mantis egg case hatched! i watched a few emerging yesterday, wriggling out slowly like tiny worms with their legs tight to their bodies. then they'd sit on the case for their exoskeleton to firm up, i guess. they're so pale when they emerge! i tried to transfer a few to my terrarium but we'll see if they survive. the vast, vast majority are free to the great outdoors.
+ tomatos in my garden are looking good, fingers crossed for em.
- while applying for jobs to work in the school system again, an employer used their gov mandated background check to dig up AND USE my deadname on me. it says on my resume i am trans. it says what name i use. they intentionally used a name that only exists in background checks now, signaling they only intend to hire me if i intend to let them openly disrespect me. no thanks. so, as you can guess, still struggling financially....
+ wisdom teeth all healed up. yayyy
- i got bit by my first deer tick ever
+ but it didn't bulls-eye (so no lymes disease)
( what happened to the queer games bundle on itchio? )
~ i rearranged my itchio so pride-related stuff is at the top.
+ the EPA cleanup of the poisoned man-made factory pond from the 1800s is, in spite of the current US regime, proceeding at a good pace. i was very, very excited to see the sand delivered because i know that's a componant in detoxifying the pond bed soil that is contaminated with arsenic and other chemicals. i don't like how many trees had to come down for them to reach the area, but in this case, it truly is a greater good scenario. trees can grow again. this pond was so full of poison that there was no frog song at it this spring. up stream? loads of frogs. but the water was too poisonous for amphibians there, and the dam that held it back was also from the 1800s and failing rapidly. so it is a load off my mind in terms of local enviromental concerns.
+ i finally had two nights of good sleep for the first time in weeks. one didnt even have the ptsd nightmare. holding fast to that.
( uspol/war )
i wish i had more content to share, but like i said, it's been a messed up month. i'm hoping july will be easier. at least, easier for those of us who dont exist solely for self advancement and money hoarding...
later. say hi to any cool bugs you see for me.
