ehhhn hello readers. im listening to alphs record for TLJ while i write this & prolly you are wondering where i went between ... what was it the 7th? 17th? when i last posted.

basically a family friend died, i was put upon to overnight to a funeral, and on the return trip something emotionally disasterous happened (beyond what a funeral already carries) and it kind of just. threw me completely off my groove for a week. i've been struggling to play catch-up to patient commissioners ever since, working on art 7 days a week, and i'm ... still just barely getting back on track. i guess that's the disadvantage to feeling like i'm spinning plates. when its working great its great, but when something happens it crashes down pretty fast and makes a mess. not ideal.

but, yknow, things are okay besides that in health & home. i'm changing doctors to a practice that didnt miss red flags to cancer until it was stage 3 on me soon. there's an upcoming future surgery that's both related to cancer treatment and to just. personal goals. and i'm of course prepping for ane still!

i learned im giving a talk on marijuana and uh well i guess i should just sit down and write that huh? it was absolutely one of those things i pitched in a hypomanic state at some point during or after chemotherapy. i dont regret pitching it, but i do hope my vast collection of propaganda and books on propaganda will enable me to at least do the subject a LITTLE justice.

i did finally get to see the new star wars and honestly, i liked it. like it has its flaws duh (excuse me disney stop being cowards john boyega and oscar isaac were all set to be gay and you told them no??) and it didnt feel like an ending. but what star wars ever did? they never did. the feeling of "thats the end? no that cant be the end, the story goes on after this!" is just a very star wars feeling. im still not a fan of jj abrams tbqh but hey, 14yo me wouldve fuckin lost it if some of the things that happened were described thru some sort of time travel. and thats what matters, imo. cuz at the end of the day star wars is and always has been a series for children.

movies that ARENT for children tho... i did not like the nick cage colour out of space movie. i mean part of it is because it felt personally insulting, doing this like 'look how disgusting cancer makes you lol mutating mutant' thing. and also because nick cage losing his shit and screaming at children just makes me very uncomfortable. why do we reward this kind of behavior with screentime. no thank you? also it doesnt look like massachusetts, because its portugal, which is fine, but the story is set in massachusetts?? and it just. i dunno. its a weak modernized high budget version of a work by a well known racist and even its creature effects feel like theyre ripping off carpenter's The Thing more than bringing originality or redemption to lovecraft.

this is a moody entry!! for a moody fella, tired and without a comic to share, on a moody monday night.

oh right, i had a birthday recently too. i am 38. and no, baby boomers still dont treat me like an adult when i talk to them. sorry zoomers it apparently never gets better in this regard :T
