i can't talk in obnoxious depth (or even link you to a place where i do!) about decontamination proceedures right now, since i really need to get going. DID SOMEONE SAY THEY WANTED THE DECONTAMNATION PROCESS IN OBNOXIOUS DEPTH? but basicly any advanced planet with frequent alien visitors is worried about alien bacteria/virsues/etc causing a pandemic. so they go through a series of scans and processes by which the bacteria are presumably negated.
the first is a blast of radioactivity that basicly flash-burns your top layer of skin along with any bacteria on it. we actually do this on earth already, so it's not an unrealistic scientific leap to apply in any way. in one thousand years, Chuians have found a safe way to use radioactive blasts to kill bacteria. the same with the chemical wash. of course, if you're already sick and coughing the scanners will pick that up too...
