(i had to move the inks to tumblr this week cause DA is broken for me now)
sorry bout that. i posted the comic monday, but was real amped up on other projects and just let the blog post slide. i figured i'd do it tuesday, but i didn't SLEEP THAT NIGHT FOR SOME REASON?????? and had the rp session that day (achievement unlocked: lighting fires with your mind) and it was also alf and my anniversary! so yeah between the tired and all that i didn't rememeber

i guess i should do a brief con report for FA:U too?
brief con report
- the hotel was really nice!
- amber and kiv were also super nice!
- the staff was all really friendly too, dang. both hotel and con staff.
- IT SMELLED A LOT BETTER THAN ANY OTHER CON I'VE GONE TO. i'm not fuckin with you here. furries are more hygenic than otaku, if FA:U is anything to go by.
- our table was right near the NJSPCA table! they were really sweet.
- the con staff treated the NJSPCA folk like celebrities, i really liked that.
- the con raised over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for the NJSPCA. the officers all cried! it was adorable.
- some guidos had double booked their wedding venue in the hotel which was fine until they all got drunk and started fighting at night.
- con staff and hotel staff broke up the fight, guido lost a tooth, mad guidos pulled the fire alarms twice. eventually the guidos got kicked out.
- veyote, alf and i went for coffee and instead found a jazzfest. so neat!
- laz's "ask a rocket scientist" panel was mind blowingly awesome. laz is pretty damn cool himself. THOUGH WHAT NASA SCIENTIST ISN'T COOL, I ASK YOU?
- because i still had questons about space and rockets we went out for pizza with laz's crew. they were all pretty chill. 10/10 would pizza again.
- there was a wedding proposal done at the con, and that was cute too.
- we missed the pool party, but dang did it look fun.
behaviorally, i did not see the negative stereotypes of furry cons going on at all. people were very respectful of personal space. they were very respectful of art, using gentle hands to turn through portfolios and not looming food or drink over pieces. they kept their voices in an appropriate range. they were friendly, but not "OMG YOURE MY BFF NOW, STRANGER!" way. they were very clean and there were no loud rowdy parties wrecking up the hotel. if there were room parties, they were quiet and not at all loudly advertised.
honestly this all trumps anime cons. anime cons i'm used to a lot of squealing, a lot of loud voices, and a LOT. A LOT. A. LOT. of invasion of personal space. no one tried to demand 'free hugs' from me at FA:U. no one tried to surprise tackle-hug anyone else. no one stabbed me with a freakin toy sword because they couldn't identify my costume. and no one STALKED me. no one at FA:U spilled their drink over my art table (ugh whyyy) or stole my materials (OTAKOOOOON). and they were ALL very well bathed, you could tell even the people in suits were taking pains to swap to street clothes AND clean their suits out at regular intevals. anime cons people just tend to show up with one costume, sleepwear, and just power through three days in the same outfit. THE FUNK GETS OVERWHELMING and that was a non-issue here.
anyway it was a lot of fun, and we're going to try to go back next year. the hotel was apparently really pleased by the convention behavior as well, and invited the organizers to reserve for next year almost right away. i guess that means that the attendees were also very polite to the staff in the hotel bar, resturaunt and gym and must have tipped well too. though i imagine helping break up the guido fist fight earned some brownie points as well!
but yeah really fun clean convention, everyone was very low key. 5/5 stars would convention again.
also amber gave me this wyrm thing! i don't know what i'm supposed to do with it, so she lives on my corkboard.
also dang that's right THE SMACKIES ARE COMING UP. and inhuman's in the scifi catagory. so i will prolly be nagging you guys to vote soon.
oh yeah! go grab some 10$ art from my buddy jay! he's paying for school stuff and could use the extra bux.
