my apologies for not posting a journal last week. it was my birthday on monday and i was really really tired on sunday. just didn't want to have to do it. i am sure you can forgive me :B

and since it's time to file taxes today, i can't really spend much time on this entry. so i'll just go through the works real quick.

1) i totally owe the charity drive tally an update. i'll do that later today i hope.
2) i'll be working later this month to start the inhuman vinyl sticker club (which includes raffles for art by me)
3) regular stuff!

apart from this i guess i should say my bday was awesome??? i got a coyote skull from mulder (so cool) and the ENTIRE MUD chipped in to buy me a for-serious soviet space program propaganda poster featuring yuri gagarin catching a rocket with belka and strelka the spacedogs. plus a ton of art, a whole bunch of LSP related items, 8-tracks, snax and all manner of nifty stuff.

and now i really should get going cause one thing that is def a part of getting older is doing taxes. blehhhhh taxes.

now might be a good time to remind yourself exactly how cin wound up in the hospital. just sayin'. might change how you view the coming exchange if you've forgotten that. but hey, if you really want to read it from em's POV then you don't have to :O

i should let y'all know alf is doing much better. after a week of nearly daily visits to the hospital and a bunch of anxiety ridden days and nights, the wound has almost entirely healed. today was the last day of antibiotics, and he can resume work again tomorrow. still, extremely stressful time there and THANKS FOR KICKING OFF THE YEAR THAT WAY 2013!

i'm just going to tell myself that it wanted to get all the bad stuff out of the way, since my bday is later this month (on the 28th :O) and the rest of the month needed to be A+


speaking of things that are A+, though....!
the charity drive is almost to 7000$ raised! that is AMAZING you guys! keep on donating and helping folks out. especially giving blood and donating money - organizations trying to help natural disasters like relief for hurricane sandy? need blood and cash more than ANYTHING ELSE. so keep that in mind!

i'd also love to talk about something the mars rover discovered, but currently whatever it is is underwraps. i hope it's live surface bacteria! that'd be amazing! but it could also just be bacteria which hitch-hiked from earth, or a faulty bit of equipment. as excited as i am, i am truly glad that NASA is double-checking their findings before releasing any details.

aaaaand back into the groove.
i mentioned this elsewhere, but i'm kind of messing around with a purple marker on this page trying to see if i can get it to render shadows on both characters and backgrounds a bit more...helpfully. as for the backgrounds, it didn't seem to accomplish much (perhaps i need a darker purple marker?) and on characters it worked - where i was bold enough to use it. still something i'm fiddling with.

let's see. in addition to the other site changes, i added three new comics to the links: trance, kyle & atticus and prequel. i've been reading all three for a while now, and only just got around to linking them. but check all three out. they're pretty good.

the cast page has been updated as well, and there still some things i need to work on getting functional with the new layout. if something breaks for you/is broken, please just let me know!

so as you (now) know, you couldn't exactly access the internet if you were in orbit in a space station. yes, life in zero g was harsh. and let's not fool ourselves, a lot of young would-be astronauts probably learned they couldn't get e-mail up there and decided "fuck it, i'll be a fireman instead." but this is a problem NO MORE!

recently, astronauts aboard the international space station successfully used a prototype interplanetary internet service (DTN) to drive a little lego robot around in germany. from space. through the internet.

the exciting thing about this is that this is a more secure method of transfering commands and information across space. see, when we send signals to say, the curiousity rover? they can get muddled, or mixed up, or take too long. DTN is an improvement upon that.

and it'd also mean that if you, say, lived on a martian colony? you could communicate with your internet pals back on earth. sure, the lag would be fierce. but you COULD DO IT. and that? is just hella cool.

oh and i guess i should just mention this. smackjeeves is doing their annual awards thing, and i dunno. if you're a fan of the comic, maybe you'd like to nominate it? inhuman's smackjeeves mirror is a few pages behind the main site, but that'd be the url you'd use to nominate if you had such a mind to. :x usually *if* inhuman gets nominated i don't find out about it until a day before the voting and so can't mobilise any votes, but maybe this time will be different?

who you vote for is really not my concern, and if you write in "turtles in pajamas" on your ballot for who you cast your votes for hey, more power to you! BUT. a lot of these ballots include things like BALLOT INITIATIVES and you probably DO want to vote on those because they directly effect the laws of your home state.

like for example in my home state, we have one where we're voting on if it should be legal or illegal for private mechanics to be allowed to fix cars. obviously i think it should be legal cause who the hell has money to pay a dealership every time? but every state is different.

so uh yeah. registering this year is SUPER SUPER EASY cause you can do it online. someone said they did it in like less than five minutes. here's some sites you can use to register (spyware free)

if you've ALREADY REGISTERED, DON'T REGISTER AGAIN. it'll invalidate your current registration and you won't be able to vote in november.

also remember that registering as a party doesn't obligate you to vote for that party. if your parents are pressuring you to register with the Rolling Tomato party and you'd rather vote Orange Popsicle party, you can make both yourself and them happy. also if you register as a Normal Pokemon party member but two days before the vote they say something really wretched that makes you want to vote for the Fire Pokemon party instead, you totally can.

i forgot to write the blog for it, but there was also an update last week. oh, and a new unintentional mishaps page. i'm as in the dark about what will happen next in Mishaps as you are, as i haven't seen the next page's script yet. what could occur :O

it was a bit of a rough two weeks, but it's over now and i am sure things will only get better because October Is Awesome. the leaves have already changed immensely around here, and a lot of people already have their halloween decorations and pumpkins out. i want to turn our front porch into a gauntlet of haunted spiders through which ambitious trick-or-treaters will have to walk to reach candy but alf is convinced they will be too afraid to go for it. that's defeatest talk and i will not have it. haunted spiders it shall be.

oh yeah, ps - AMERICANS! the last day you can register to vote is sometime in october! it varies between states, and you can find out your last day on this map. remember that this year you can register ONLINE and it literally takes less than five minutes to do so. so please, please, PLEASE register to vote in this year's election.

anyway, back to the comic. it's been a few years since this set was last used, so for a brief refresher you may want to flip back to page 367.

i also finally got around to zipping up the archive for arc 10, which you can grab in .zip or .cbz format. whichever. i'll get around to making it into a pdf eventually.

sorry that this is a day late. it was actually finished early on sunday, but i got derailed by real life stuff and so it just sat on top of my scanner until this morning.

i suppose the first thing you will notice when you go to look at this week's comic is the enormous banner urging americans to register to vote. you can actually register online now! how cool is that, you don't even have to go out or spend a stamp! you can do it from my site (the white house developed a code that can be plugged into anywhere - blogs, sites, whatever!) or you can use the official white house registration site at gottaregister.com.

which probably leaves you with some questions about voting/registering/parties/whatever. i'll be glad to answer them if you leave a comment on this entry!

so anyway, back to the comic. i did talk at length about what i was trying to do/not do with parts of this page. it's not one of my best, i probably should have just made the first six panels larger and junked the last four all together. OH WELL. next week we'll do better, yeah?

and i guess i should take this time to say goodbye to comicrank.com :< i will miss you, comicrank. it was the only comic listing system i really liked, because it didn't request readers to click links or vote to tally numbers. it just passively collected stats and based your rank on that. since codes can be written to artificially climb ranks on voting sites, i just liked that better. i'm sad to see it go, it was a good site.

anyway in terms of fanart this week there's art by keetah, Eluvion and a newcomer named Claire! go check them all out, all three pictures are p awesome.
